View Full Version : Looking for work experience in London

I've contemplated starting up my own business for a while now but I think that I still need some more experience. I'm 20 and studying for my A+ exam. I'm known as the PC kid to my friends and family so I have a fair bit of experience with building systems and removing viruses. My only real work experience was at Inmarsat (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Inmarsat).

With all this in mind could you guys give any advice on looking for work experience? Any help would be much appreciated :)

My advice would be to get a job in a shop first and be an apprentice. At your age, you should have a few years of doing shop work before going out on your own. Although, there are a few techs here that are your age and running their own places, but that's just my advice. Learn from others, there is a lot to owning a shop.

Good luck!

Keep studying and try to get the most certifications you can. Print some business cards and give them to your friends and family. You don't have to be an expert to work from home because Google is your best friend.
