View Full Version : IE6 Eatting all CPU

 My computer appears to be going downhill faster than I could slide down it. I am running S L O W, much too slow, when I went to check to see what was using all the resources I found IE6 was using 102,000. At first it was svchost.exe, found the fix for it, now it's my IE.. It appears Im chasing something around. I run Windows XP Home, SP2, Norton 360, 128 bit, 4 cpu, Pentium 4, 150ghz, 1.25 GRam. I still have 54 GB remaining out of 80. Norton 360 says I don't have a virus. Good grief when I go to open my computer a flashlite is there looking for it for a solid 30 seconds before it comes up. Anyone Know What Could Be happening to my computer? Just upgraded the Ram 3 months ago and been going down rapidly every since.
Any help or advice (besides purchasing a new one, lol) would be most appreciated.

I'd suggest first getting rid of Norton 360. Then, once you have a good internet security package, scan for viruses again. Get a good spyware scanner and remove anything it may find.
From there, do you have any IE addons or that kind of junk? Y'know, those bajillion search bars that're available?

I agree with first getting rid of Norton 360 and getting something decent like Kaspersky, or AVG. Next you might want to upgrade to IE7. I think this will clear up the slow computer issues.
