Is this true that you can add another 120 days to the activation grace period? What does that can you, and why can't you do it indefinitely?

It's true but I believe you can only use Rearm twice (maybe 3x?) max.

And what is the downside? Its fully functional until the end of the trial period right?

No downside, fully functional. Goes for Vista and 7.
3 rearms max. (3 x 30days only if you rearm on the last day ofcourse.)

There is a registry tweak that'll give you 8 rearms more but TN is hardly the place to elaborate on this any further. I suggest Google if you feel you should learn about this ;)

Off the top of my head, I believe it's something like 6 times. The OS is still fully functional during that period. Why does this interest you so much?

It's 3 times as the maximum is 120 days in total. Each re-arm allows for an extra 30 days not a 120.
