My business is officially opening November 1st. Along with alot of other stuff that still needs to be done i need a store policy asap. If anyone here has an in store policy listed on a website or can upload it, i would greatly appreciate it. I just need somewhat of a base to build my own since i dont really have a clue on how im going to lay it out!

Thanks in advance for any assistance with this!

This is displayed at our service counter. The last bit is important. We have been in business for 15 years. During the last 3, we have come across two PC's where a tech saw file names during a data transfer that were suggestive of child pornography. Prior to the first incident, we did not display our service policy. It's an awkward situation when a client calls to check on their computer repair and you have to tell them to contact the State Police.

I'm sure we left things out and I know it can be improved, but it does cover most situations we have encountered in the past. It should get you thinking on the right path.

Computer equipment service is performed on a first in first out basis at a rate of $69 per hour.

There will be a minimum of 1 hour service for all computer equipment.
We reserve the right to waive this fee under special circumstances if we cannot repair the equipment due to parts availability or resources.

Computer equipment is expected to be paid in full and picked up within 7 days of completion of service. Equipment left over 30 days past work completion or abandoned equipment will be disposed of. Equipment must be picked up by the person who originally brought it in for service. We will not release equipment to anyone under the age of 18.

Backup all important files prior to service request. We are not responsible for lost or damaged data. We will ask for prior approval before performing service that may be potentially damaging to your data such as system restores or format procedures. You will be provided with the option of data backup and restoration services. This does not guarantee we will backup all files.

We have a very strict privacy policy. We will not share your personal information with anyone. We do not retain copies of backed up data for any reason once computer equipment service is complete. Sometimes it may be necessary for us to ask for your password to login to the computer. We strongly recommend you reset or change your password after service is complete. We do not retain passwords on file.

We do not “snoop” for files on computers brought in for service; we have better things to do. However, if we are performing data recovery, data transfer, data backup, or other data restoration services and find data considered illegal, we will report the incident to the proper authorities.
