A business called, had some spyware issues (pop ups, and more) and we sent a tech out and cleaned it off. The next day, the spyware returned.

So this workstation was crapply installed anyways, and the time to reload it, and get rid of spyware was about the same, so we went and reloaded the workstation.

2 days later, TONS of spyware, and every toolbar know to man is installed, along with smilies and what not.

So the main contact asked us why that workstation kept on getting spyware. Our response was, the user must be playing on the computer, and doing none work related things to cause this. And there basic response was "No, they don't do that."

Since the customer is always right, I guess we've got some of epidemic going on with spyware now!!

You might want to ask them how they know their user is not doing things they should not be. If they are visiting porn sites and such, no amount of protection you can put on it will help.

Sounds like they just need some good ol' computer education. You can install all the anti spyware/malware/virus applications you want. If they still let them in they will keep on getting them. Tell them about toolbars/banners/installers that allow them to access the content are usually a bad thing. Watch out for free screensavers/toolbars/smilies etc..

Hell, give him the URL's to some malware-free porn sites if you want. I know some techies here have done that.
