Ok, Ive recently gone into partnership with a large software company as a reseller and Im looking to put together a marketing plan in the near future.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions I can use to get this started? Ive never had to produce one before and havent got much idea about where to start. I want to keep cost to a minimum also to start with.

You need to decide up front what kind of money you are looking at spending. Marketing is a vast resource and you can easily spend all your money in one place if you are not careful. If you have done marketing in the past make a list of what worked and what didn't and that is a start.

Thanks for the advice.
Ive not done any marketing before apart from designing, printing and organising delivery of letterbox flyers, local paper advertising, and a yellow pages ad.
Ive managed to sell 10 copies of this new software im involved with to home PC users in my first week however there are variations of this software available with multi licenses targeted toward large networks and business. Its them I want to promote it to primarily but have no idea where to start. The home user market I can tackle ok.

Ok its been some months since I asked this question, but now it looks like I may actually need to get a plan together. I know MS Word has free marketing templates but even a basic one I looked at left me a bit bewildered as to where to start.
I know such a plan isnt simply a matter of figuring out where your going to advertise & how much your going to spend.
Has anyone here had any experience in this area that can point me in the direction of where to start?

Hi, the software I resell is in my signature.
The only 'marketing' Ive done so far is to set up the website as well as sell the software directly to the customers I get through my PC repair business.

I would decide what type of business this software directly benefits, such as banks, check cashing offices, etc. Once i have the main target group, one thing i would try is to send out informative letters to that group of businesses explaining the software, the benefits, cost, and maybe how popular the software is. I would maybe learn the product inside and out so i could sell it that much more when talking to the target group. You can sell to any group but your target group is the one who will most likely buy. Always market aggressively!
