Access denied while copying from an external drive to a laptop

Here's a weird one.

I ghosted a laptop drive to an external drive.
I then cherry picked the required files, and put them into a rar.
When I shutdown and connected the external drive to the running laptop,
I then tried to copy the rar file, but I'm getting access denied.

Checks the perms, they look fine.

I don't know why
