I have a computer that when the user opens Outlook 2003, it runs extremely slow. I have checked for nasties in just about every way possible. Outlook connects to my exchange server for emails. Anybody have any ideas as to why outlook would be so slow starting up. We're talkin it takes literally 5 minutes to bring outlook up.

What addins are running when outlook loads? (Check in Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add-ins and COMS Addins). Are there alot of emails stored or to be downloaded?

When you say "my exchange server", is the exchange server on the same local network as the users computer? It could be struggling to find the server, so I would trying pinging the exchange server and DNS server from the client machine to see if it's all getting through ok. Has it worked prior to this problem?

She has the following Add-Ins listed:

DCC extensions
symantec AV 10.1
delegate access
deleted item recovery
exchange extensions commands
exchange extensions property pages
server scripting (only one not checked)
fax server extensions

The exchange server and DNS server are on the local network and ping through just fine. There really aren't that many emails to download as the user is on outlook everyday so there aren't very many new ones.

I can only assume that it worked in the past but she just started complaining about it as of late.

I think i have it running faster. I disabled all add-ons that i didnt need and it seems to be getting better. I did the same on my outlook 2007 instance and i no longer get a few different error messages which is always nice. Thanks for the help Simmy!
