View Full Version : Need packet-writing software/driver suggestions

I need a suggestion, based on experience preferably, for a packet-writing driver for WinXP.

I have a customer that is still stuck with some DOS programs (running in CMD windows) that do backups to floppy disks. This was fine until they needed new systems and they came without floppy drives.
So the plan was to use a CD-RW drive like a floppy drive. Problem is WinXP only writes to CD-R[W] as an image. The process to write the back up to one place then drag-and-drop to the CD-RW is a last resort.

After much searching with Google I am totally confused now. Lots of references to DirectCD and InCD but they are part of a bigger packages with features not needed or wanted. There were also lots of articles that talked of problems with both of them.

Any others I missed? Are there any free drivers?

Try a VFD Virtual Floppy Drive

It also operates faster. Takes less than a second to do an entire floppy disk, so your client's antique software will run much, much better than in the past.
