From my 9 years of PC fixing experience. I would suggest the user run a copy of 3Dmark2001. It sometimes can be better then running memtest.
I had encounter problem where memtest register all test fail and that ram manage to run 3Dmark2001. Wherelse a good ram will hang halfway or not run 3Dmark at all.

Definitely would be a great idea for testing gaming machines. However the not-so-3d-capable machines would probably be best tested on memtest.
I'll definitely try 3DMark on the next gaming machine with suspected ram problems.

That is some great information there I am going to ahve to check a few of those things out on my old computer becasue I think that may be what is wrong with it.

Does your computer emit endless beeps during bootup? Does your PC crash for no apparent reason at random intervals? Or you get blue screens of death with errors such as IRQL_Less_or_Not_Equal? If so, then it is very likely that there is a problem with your computers memory (RAM).
