I am in an ongoing hassle with them. I had some RAM fail Memtest, so I RMA'd it, got some with the heat spreader not touching the RAM, sent it back, and just got the same thing from them today. What is the point of a heatspreader if it is not in contact with the chips?
Very frustrating. In my experience, beware Crucial RAM.

Wow, thats pretty shady. Get stuck into them. I hope you get your issue with them solved.
I mean, its in their best interest to please computer technicians like us. Its one thing to piss off an end user.. it just means that one person wont buy their RAM anymore. However, to mess with computer technicians/system builders who make hundreds of PC's a year and have a choice on what brand they put in the custom machine.. thats just dumb. Good luck Fred. I'll definitely be avoiding Crucial RAM (even though I dont currently use them, I wont be switching to them either).

Thanks Bryce. At this point, it seems to be pointless. I posted a similar thread on every forum I am a member of. At this point, sure, I can do another RMA, but why? It is only a gig of RAM, and smashing it with a sledgehammer would make me laugh!
I also wanted to spread the word, so people can make there own choice of what RAM they buy for their customers. If this was a customer's computer jeez, I would look like an idiot!
A RAM upgrade that takes a month and still is not right?
All I can think of offhand is this: OCZ.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Never had a problem with Crucial myself, but I have had problems with OCZ and Corsair. I guess it's the luck of the draw :\ Geil, G.Skill and Mushkin have always been rock solid for me though.

Got off the phone with Crucial a little while ago. Seems they had a batch of RAM with defective heatspreader clips... So they are going to upgrade me to 2x1Gb sticks and crossship them to me. I will post back with results.

I've never had a problem with crucial, we used to use them a lot. Lately I just use kingston for nearly everything. If it is for a gaming rig I use OCZ.

I have used Crucial, Corsair, and Kingston RAM and not had problems with any of them. I had an issue once getting replacement RAM for my laptop got the same speed and CAS but went up to 2x 512MB. The first pair were Corsair and they did not work may have been defective but I returned for refund and got Crucial and they are working. I have never purchased or used RAM with heatspreaders but I don't bother with overclocks and have not built a new high end system in 5 years. I have heard plenty good about every brand mentioned but in the end it is where you have your luck not everyone elses luck.

Well, seems I am up on 2Gb of some new Crucial RAM. Things seem pretty dang fast, so I am happy so far. Got to tweak the timings some in the future, then see how it will overclock.
