Can anyone recommend an application that might fix a corrupt Excel file? I see there's plenty of apps out there you can purchase, but any freeware? If not, what do you use?

Thanks,
Jason

To manually repair a file

On the File menu, click Open.
In the Open dialog box, select the file you want to open, and click the arrow next to the Open button.
Click Open and Repair, and then choose which method you want to use to recover your workbook.Source: http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/excel/HA010346561033.aspx

Failing that, give any one of these a try:

Give them a whirl and let us know if any of them did the job.

Thanks Bryce, I didn't know about that repair function. It did fix it enough to get the data, but the client wanted to get it "as it was" so we opted to use Nucleus Technologies Kernel for Excel. The demo worked and showed the data, but we then bought the full product and when it came time to save the file after recovery, it would not. I had to send the file to them to recover the file in full, this shouldn't have been an option, but oh well, just let all the techies out there to be careful when ordering "warrantied" software of this type, even with the stated warranties.
