Hows it going everyone, just introducing myself.
Full time IT Administrator and AMS Consultant(auto steering tractor systems) for a John deere dealership in KS. Starting part time computer repair buissness out of my house for some extra cash, dad used to run a store in town but went to WY for an I.T. job with the state so im picking u where he left off. Comptia A+ and Network+ certified, working on CEH and a few other Microsoft Certs. founf alot of your informaton here valuable already.

Welcome to the forums. You sound like you have plenty of certifications to get started. Which articles did you find useful? The business or technical ones? or both?

mostly the buisness, im frm a town of 5000 people, and have one major competitor, so the issue is getting people to know me, i have been getting alot of calls from people asking if ill take over where my dad left off because they dont want to give their money to a "non hometown company" (small town politics) so i belive the demand is there, the question is how exactly to get started, i have the tools and a room in my house dedicated as an office and work room, so now how do i get my name out there, word of mouth advertising? im on a small budget for this, really just whatever extra i have frm my full time job.

Use the local paper, or set up a website for the town, and let anyone use and post to it, join the chamber of commerce or ask other businesses in town about advertising in their store.

You could so use that "Home Grown Local Guy" angle to your advantage.
