Has anyone tried marketing using give-aways such as usb flash drives, pens, pencils, mousepads branded with your logo/name/info on it? How has it worked? Profitable, get your name around, would you do it again? You know, then stuff they hand out a trade shows.
If it worked, what did you use? and who did you get your branded items from?

We do pens and also pads of paper (little ones that might end up on the computer desk next to the computer.) They both have our name, logo, and number on them.
You should also try and get your name and number on the computer/monitor somewhere so its easy to find you when they need you. Try this place out:

Are they worth it though? do you find many people keep them?

Heres what I do & it works for me. I designed a few postcards with different computer information on them (keyboard shortcuts, web links, etc.). I then went to a local printer & had a few thousand printed on hard card stock.
I then hand them out every where I go - people always keep those cards next to the PC because they use them. Thats the key create something they NEED not want.
I tried pens, USB, etc but those did not work. My cards do!! People are now asking for copies for the family & friends!!
I do buy USB keys with my logo on them for giveaways, drawing, etc.
To save money call a few printers & ask if they have any left over space in print runs. I have a printer who sells the cards for half price if he has an available run. Now these runs will be an odd number (234, 578, etc.) & they might xome in different sizes (5x8, 8x9)
Thats what I do

That's a great idea Holzster. My older clients always have a problem remembering keyboard shortcuts and other info, so it would be very useful for them.
