Found this article on lifehacker could be a good thing to do on a customers machine if you have had to do a clean install of windows, you could also create a partition for their data. Could make you life alot easier in the future or if you look after a small business this would be a good way to prepare all the machines. You could even avoid an onsite visit by leaving instructions on how to restore the image or instruction over the phone.
