I have Windows Vista installed on my PC. What would be the best software to buy to clean and speed up my PC? I need the best registry cleaner available. Though there are many freebies offered, I am willing to pay for the best one for my pc. Can anyone suggest me the best program available for the purpose?

First off, lets start by getting some information regarding your computer.

What CPU/speed are you running?

How much memory does your computer have?

Vista is a memory hog. But thats also what everyone said about XP when it first came out: "what do you mean i need 128 mb of RAM to run this? THATS CRAZY! I'm sticking with good ole 98" Now vista is the target, but i digress. As for cleaning I agree Ccleaner is very good and safe, others are out there and are more agressive but you need to be careful. Also you did not state if you are running 32 or 64 bit, it makes a big difference. I have only found two reg cleaners that work with 64 bit the rest nuke the system in short order.

Vista is a bloated memory hog, imho. If you're looking to speed it up, then what you probably need is more ram. In my experience with registry cleaners, I've rarely seen one speed up a system. And for cleaning up your hard drive try ccleaner. It's free.

CCleaner and EasyCleaner are about the very best file and registry cleanup tools that do no harm , both free but they deserve donations!

I also recommend SpyWare Blaster installed as well.

I have found that these free tools do as good or a better job than the bloated paid tools.
