I have been given a computer with a valid Windows XP Home key but no cd's. I would like to reload the OS but without recovery disks or a Windows cd kinda hard to. How would I get a legit copy of the OS? Any ideas?

Curious minds want to know.

You can use any CD that matches with the license that you have. Remember that when you buy a software you don't buy the CD but the license or licenses if applicable. Ask a friend or someone that has an XP Home.

the other solution is more risky but you can download all in one and use the version that you need but I wouldn't recommend it but those are your choices.

For Vista and Win7, you can use the links in this thread about Windows 7 ISO's:

Sorry that won't help you with WinXP.

From Michael Stevens Tech article about a repair install.

My understanding is that you can use any XP cd and when it asks for the product key it wants the one you have which is the original.
