View Full Version : Repartition/Resize system drive

Hey TN'ers,

I was just wondering if there are other partition software that can resize the system drive. I want to be able to increase the size of the system drive. I have seen some of the software out there however it only can decrease not increase.

Can someone please give me some direction?

For XP the last version of Partition Magic (8) is the safest. It does not support Vista or 7.

There is a freeware (although you should pay for a business licence) lookalike that is slightly more uncertain, but also does Vista and 7

I would use ghost for this. Just do a partition to image create, then you can make a new partition on drive, any size you want. After that you ghost it back, works every time. You also have an added safety factor of having an image if this goes wrong. Partition resizing can be catastrophic!

U can better try Paragon.PM.10_x32 that can solve ur problem it was tested..it can work xp/vista/win7 in both 32 or 64 bit.

You can use PARTITION RESIZER which is freeware. It's from www.zeleps.com. I do recommend you use PING to back up the partition to somewhere else on the network before resizing (just to be safe). PING is a freeware linux version of Ghost. (Ghost for windows is junk, but ghost for dos works great everytime, which is probably why norton included a copy of the last dos version every year with the windows version) Anyway...
Ping (partition image not ghost) is a freeware program. burn it to cd. boot the cd. tell it to take everything on the entire pc, compress it if you like, then store the image on any other pc on your network. ping just works. so far I've never had a single problem getting it to do what it says.
The partition resizer program is cool, it works very well. Just enlarge or shrink the partition. First though I would move all the data to the front of the drive if you are shrinking the partition by doing a defrag with options to relocate files to the front.
