Thank you! There was a post on here linking to Torrents and I did not want to go that route.

Yes, 100% - This is only the operating system, as long as we don't supply keys it's fine

It's been a common mistake that you buy a Windows disc. You have always been buying the right to use a copy of Windows not the disc. Your not even buying a copy your just renting it actually.

Just download the Ultimate 64-Bit and Ultimate 32-Bit editions and follow This Guide (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/07/23/how-to-select-any-edition-or-version-sku-of-windows-7-to-install-from-single-edition-dvd-disc-media-or-iso/) and have 2 disks instead of 6...also it saves you bandwidth and time.

...Seriously, I feel sad for you...and Microsoft for being forced to make different versions.
I would long split my company before anyone can step in and tell me what to do with it.

All down to the fat cats in brussels seeing a quick billion bucks for their beaurocat pockets under anti-competition laws.

Just a pity it will all be wasted on lining the pockets various jobs for the boys quangos and none of it will be used for anything that will benefit any of the memember countries population.

Damn, the ultimate version is downloading at a horrible 3k.... only 339 hours to go for the 32bit verison.

Once i have the Ultimate 32&64 bits it will be nice to use the ei.cfg trick and have all versions on only 2 discs

Yeah, took me about 3 days to get both on a T1 connection... reminds me of the good old days.

Does anyone have some valid links for the Windows Ultimate ISO, as the amazon links are not working for me.

I wish Microsoft would just give these away, because with a valid key they are useless, and we have all experienced where users have not made the backup disks.

Thanks

Can anyone point to some XP ISO's? I'm a newbie and I'm trying to get my toolkit/CD wallet stocked up. I can find it if I went the torrent route but I want a trusted source.

TIA!

I know I'll get ripped for this.....the only trusted source to download Windows ISO's is from Microsoft. Get a technet or action pack subscription.

I second that.

Not worth it to go around hunting for ISOs and then having to verify and re-test.;)

These ones would be trusted though as these are the ones used for the download only purchases. i know digital river are handling the download versions for MS in the EU.

I think someone has discovered a back door however to find these as i would have thought the download would have been over https

Try http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/download-unmodified-original-windows-xp-with-sp3-integrated-full-retail-and-vl-install-cd-iso-image-from-msdntechnet-plus-via-http-or-torrent/

They are the links to the unmodified original windows xp with xp3 integrated. I do not think all the links are still valid, but it should help you out.

Thanks

Thanks Jamie. I'll look around for the file name and check out the hash if I'm successful. I wish these were more readily available. What's the harm if you have a valid product key! By the time a customer has a need for their discs, they usually have no clue where they are. All I have at this point is Win7 Ultimate, XP Home, Office 2002, 2003 and 2007.

As far as I can tell, Action Pack won't do him any good for XP - the subscription is not retro-active for older versions of the OS. Right now you'll get Win 7 and maybe Vista.

At least, that's all I can see on our subscription.

Im in desperate need for Vista Business.

I wish people would really hold on to their disc the system came with. Also I have no idea why this guy bought a Vista Business laptop. He doesn't want XP and he doesn't use the Business features.

An .iso is a type of disk image; a complete copy of a cd/dvd in one single file

no.. lol.. I understand what an .iso is.. I'm curious to what purpose is it to have these os's since you can't really use them without a key or can you for troubleshooting, etc. Can they be installed and then activated by purchasing a key?

You can use them for repairs and you can use them to do a reinstall on a computer that has Windows 7. You would just use the key that came on the computer.
