Anyone got any tips on fixing these? I have been getting a lot of these lately. Living close to a university and all.
I used a toothbrush with rubbing alcohol on the bad spots. SO i got a totally dead computer to now have power.. and the fan starts for a second.. but the laptop is still dead and nothing on the screen. Are these usually motherboard replacements/write offs?

Most often I have found this to be the case.

My fathers scrap yard used to process LOTS of circuit boards and we got a reference to Biochemical Systems T-200a Solution (http://biochemsys.com/products/bio-t-200a/) to clean off any PCB's...too bad the stuff is so damned expensive...about $200 for 5-gallons

Especially soda...it eats away at things and does badness to mother boards. if it is limited to the keyboard, that is a quick fix. Motherboard replacement will be needed if spill goes onto it. Depending on processor/memory location, they may need replacing too.
