I am having a problem on multiple laptops, of varying models from different base ghost images that all are doing the same thing. they all load explorer very slowly or not at all, but only when they are off of our local domain. if we have the user enter hibernate or standby mode it resolves the issue as explorer is already loaded. anyone have any ideas whats going on with this. i am using one as my test to figure out the problem.

things i have looked at:
Hardware profiles
new drivers
BIOS update
local policy "autoenrollment"

any ideas?

This may be a networking (or lack of) issue. I got a feeling that explorer is waiting for an IP from the network, or trying to connect to the domain which it isn't connected to. I don't know how to fix it but thats what I think it is.

This wouldnt help because hes talking about Explorer.exe which is your desktop/startmenu/taskbar Windows interface. Not iExplorer.exe which is the Internet Browser.

Right now we are having them just put the computer in stand by to by pass the issue. i don't like the solution but it works.

this problem is one of the most annoying i have ever encountered because nothing i do appears to change a thing.

What if you press ctrl + shift + esc and go to file "run" then launch explore.exe from there. Will it launch just as slowly or will it automatically bring it like if it was acting normal when you try it.

Also have you view the event viewer and see if there are any problems there?
