Greetings all,

I am looking for a way to have desktop systems report Event Viewer Errors, Windows Update Status, Anti-virus status etc. I already have remote desktop access through Terminal Services (Rdp), but was hoping there was some way I could automatically get this info. I'm pretty sure LogMeIn Rescue supports this with their "dashboard", but it is waaay overkill since I already have remote desktop access.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Some possibilities ...

PRTG Network Monitor - http://www.paessler.com/tools (http://www.paessler.com/tools) (first 10 sensors are free. See list here: http://www.paessler.com/support/kb/prtg7/features_networkmonitoring)
N-Able - http://www.n-able.com/
Houndog - http://hounddogiseasy.com/rmm-tools/index.html
NAGIOS - http://www.nagios.org/

Hey, thanks again, PatrickB. Hounddog (or GFI Max) turned out to be exactly what I was looking for!

I can't believe how reasonably priced it is. I'm almost considering offering some of the functionality as a "value add" or as part of our maintenance plans.

If anyone is using this, I wouldn't mind hearing any reviews. I've been playing with the 30 day trial and it looks like a great product.

Thanks,
EP

Just throw this out there for you...But, if you are a member of the acrbo.com you get a discount on Hounddog/GFI Max....I've been using them for a few years and very pleased.

Does GFI allow individual licenses or how does that work. For example if I just need to monitor 4 servers can I do that economically or is it like Kaysea where I need to buy 100 licenses minimum?

I think I found the answer to my own question. If anyone else is wondering..

"We’re all feeling the pinch just now, so what better time to use a product designed for IT Support Companies and Managed Service Providers that offers a no money upfront license model, no minimum license quantities and risk free, cancel-anytime terms if you lose a client or decide HoundDog's not for you?"

Looks very promising. I had looked into it before but now I am more than curious. I am going to test this on a few servers and let you guys know how it goes.

If you have more questions, just call them, they are super helpful. When I called with a few questions, the comment made on their licensing model was "If you're [me] successful, then we're successful".
