After struggling (and getting very annoyed) with failed login attempts to Facebook over the past couple of weeks, even after FB supposedly fixed their "account unavailable" problem, I decided to try to figure out if the issue was on my end or not.
My assumption had been that it was on their end, because ALL of my computers and web browsers were having the same issue. Then I thought about it; is there something wrong with my router? Well, I Googled regarding router issues and Facebook, and...sure enough, an old post on a forum somewhere suggested DNS issues can cause Facebook problems. That's when I went, "Oops!" I had previously been using alternative DNS settings in my router, including OpenDNS. When I changed the DNS settings to all zeroes (my modem actually pulls its own DNS from my ISP, AT&T), viola! Instant login to Facebook.
So, if you or your customers are having Facebook issues, try different DNS settings, or return to default, and see if that helps. So far (knock on wood), it is for me.
