Why would you not have fire extinguishers and a first aid kit, even if you are not working?.
However why do you need a Health and Saftey poster?. I mean, it's your home.

It really does depend on whether you employ staff or have customers or others visiting your home in the course of your business.
As you're in the UK you might want to look at this. (http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?type=RESOURCES&itemId=1073791654)

Thanks for that, very interesting information, i have customers coming to my home so was just asking how many people keep the things i listed, i mean if you don't carry a Fire Extinguisher and the customers computer catches fire you are going to be stuffed for not carrying one, is it a UK law to carry one as part of your business.

Every home should have a Fire Extinguisher and First Aid and Non-perishable foods as a basic package of "Survival Necessities". If your customers are coming to your home then you are a prime target for lawsuits since your doorway probably steps down and doesn't have that Black & Yellow tape. Or- you might not have ramp access to your home making you a target for those who are disabled...If you're that worried about the law then you should hire a lawyer and get a real office ;)

Increased robbery and therefore insurance rates I would imagine, and assuming and depending on zoning laws and how your business is listed what likely you'd need to have to met requirements for that type of home-based business.

Well- if he was recycling old computers then the EPA can get him for Lead/Mercury issues. But that's really a long shot in the dark...

Actually good point...and it is the shots in the dark that people forget and end up paying for in the end...so I can't say for certain but just about any point of interest we happen to bring up may become useful.
