I read on here that Crossloop was a good remote tool. So I signed up for it. Problem is, how the heck do I direct a customer for remote support? I can see things where I share my screen, but not them. Also, do they have to have an account?

Its a pain really, but here is the process.

1. Call customer, direct them to the crossloop website

2. Have them download and install the software

3. Have them hit the "skip" button when it asks them to create an account

4. Have them hit the "Share" tab, then let them read the name and access code to you

5. Both of you hit the connect button

Crossloop was a great program, but I am afraid you will get fed up with it real quick. I used it for a year then everything went downhill. Every 3-5 minutes the sessions randomly disconnect, making it a real pain.

If your doing a lot of remote support, I would check out SingleClick (http://www.uvnc.com/addons/singleclick.html)

Does that require prior installation? Or can someone who's computer I have never worked on use it?

Dont do it, you will find you will get drop outs every 2 or 3 mins, and your customer will be anoyed at you for keep phoning them and asking then to reconnect you, your choice but i would not touch it with a barge pole.

With SingleClick you basically make your own .exe file, upload it to your server and have the client download it. The difference is there is nothing to install for them, they just launch the single .exe.

When a client calls, direct them to the download (lets say http://www.your_site.com/remote.exe), and tell them to save it to the desktop. It is a very small file and downloads quick, from there they just double click the icon, and your name and your connected.

Next time they need help they can just double click the icon on there desktop and your connected.

Awesome, I will have to check it out. Thanks!

You can also do a search on these forums for it, you will see a lot of threads that go deep into detail about the program.

Checkout TeamViewer (http://www.teamviewer.com/index.aspx) as well, always good to have many options to choose from and in no way trying to take away from others that have already posted. I like that it is portable or installable and can be run as a service which would be useful for business clients.

Listen to ProTech, SingleClick is a great free remote desktop tool. Like you I started with Crossloop and like most everyone here, couldn't put up with disconnects.

So my search began, I tried Teamviewer (great, $$), LogMeIn (excellent, very expensive), Radmin, Techinline (paid for a quarter year, good product but not exactly what I wanted), RemoteSupportSystems (for a paid product its actually affordable and works reasonably well, using it now), SingleClick (unfortunately found it to late, a lot of paid remote products are based off of this free product)

That’s my path down remote support; if you have the time and knowledge learn SingleClick and save yourself some money.

I would use singleclick, but found it hard to set up, so gave up.

The setup of the program is actually pretty easy, where did you get stuck? If you need help with it let me know, I have setup a couple of them.
