I am thinking about starting my own on-site repair business here in L.A., Ca. I know that most of the calls I will probably deal with are Virus/SpyWare issues with home and small office users. I use Ghost 2003 for imaging. Seems to be semi-reliable. :)

What do you guys think about Ghost 12 or Acronis True Image? I really would like to get an updated imaging software solution for disaster restore situations. Which one do you think is more reliable and consistent in the field?

Also, I am wondering about this type of scenario if anyone knows:

I deal with a users system that wont boot perhaps due to Spyware/Virus etc. I need to do a (Full) wipe and re-install of the OS, but before I do that I image the machine to preserve the data to recover files later after the new OS is loaded. How do you restore the users (Profile) specific data from an image or backup on an external drive? In the past I would just have to copy each needed file one by one. Ex: Outlook *.pst, IE Bookmarks and so on. Is there a way to get this data from the backup in one method? I dont believe I can use XP's (File and Setting's Transfer Wizard) as that has to be run prior to the restore using that utility. Thanks Guys. This Forum is exactly what I was looking for! :D

The company I work for is actually an Acronis partner, Acronis main offices are about 2 miles down the road from me. I am a big fan of all of their products. I might sound a bit biased, but I really do like them.

I use True Image for all of my imaging.

In your work experience with True Image do you ever see any (corrupt) images that you have created and then tried to restore later. I notice a lot of people do have this issue on the Acronis forums.

I have been using Acronis True Image and Acronis Disk Director Suite for over 2 years now and have been very happy with the acronis brand. It has saved me more than a few times. I have never had a corrupt image.
