Mid to high end, but somewhat lacking in the graphics. Doesn't run the newest games, but they're not worth the time anyway.
Athlon64 3000+, Venice, sck939
Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939
A-Data 2x512MB DDR400 Dual Channel
Fortron ATX2 350W
Maxtor 40GB UATA133 @ 7200
Western Digital 40GB UATA133 @ 7200
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 128MB
MBO eTron 770 17" CRT, 1024x768x32@85

Nothing spectacular. It's built from an ABS Awesome V1D 25 which I snagged for $500. I might use the case for a more powerful platform but the motherboard is going to be retired for a Windows Media Center PC (I would have rather prefered Linux but there were too many driver incompatibilites with Suse at least. Might try Gentoo before officially retiring the board.)
Motherboard: MSI RS482M4-ILD
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Big Typhoon (Added)
Memory: 1.25 GB (256 MB allocated to Video Memory) (768 MB Added)
Video Chipset: ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 w/ S-Video and Composite Out pins and headers
Optical Drive: LITEON DVD±R / ±RW Drive (Added)
Hard Drive 1: Western Digital 80GB Hard Drive (PATA)
Hard Drive 2: Hitachi Deskstar 250GB Hard Drive (PATA) (Added)
PSU: Antec 400 Watt Power Supply (Added)
For my laptop, nothing spectacular either but it's barely tolerable. Two of my biggest gripes is no onboard USB 2.0 and the piss poor battery life. The graphics card and touchpad caused some issues with Linux but it's more of a relief anyways since 60GB isn't that much room to play around with.
Model: HP Pavilion ze4610us
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Mobile
Memory: 768 MB (64MB allocated to Video Memory)
Video Card: ATI Radeon IGP 320M
Optical Drive: Toshiba DVD/CD-RW
Hard Drive: Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 7200RPM 60GB hard drive

The one Im using now is quite bleeding edge and is my first computer I built back in October 2005.
Case Cooler Master/Wave Master (Black Polish)
Motherboard ASUS AN8 SLI Premium
Processor AMD Althon X2 4800+
Video Card BFG Nvidia 7800GTX
Sound Card Sound Blaster X-FI Elite Pro
Memory OCZ 2GB High Performance DDR PC400 3200 (2.3.2.5 timings)
Cooling Fans Processor and GPU - Zalman cooling devices. 2 Front intake, 1 exaust.
DVD Drive Sony 810
Cooling Devices Aerocool Gatewatch Front Bay.
Floppy Drive Standerd Sony.
Power Supply PC Power and Cooling 510 SLI
Moniter Dell 1901 19inch (2003 Model)
Hard Drive Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10k RPM 8MB Cache
Accessories
Keyboard Saitek Eclipse
Mouse Diamondback Razor Plasma
Joystick Saitek X52 Flight Control System
Mousepad Flexiglow
Speakers Logitech Z-5500 5.1 THX
This would possibly be my last computer I will ever build or will need since I think it's much easier to keep up with the medium if I ever need to trade in and replace parts. Im done with brand name computers.

I am lookin at trashin my old desktop which I think I posted the specs of and upgrade my laptop
Current Laptop Specs
P4 Mobile 2.8 GHz
512 MB DDR
60GB 4200RPM HDD
15.4" WXGA w/ XBrite
DVD+/-RW(Forgotten speeds)
802.11g Built-in Wi-Fi
10/100 Ethernet Lan
64MB ATI Radeon IGP 345M
The upgrades I want to make
1. Change out both 256MB DDR chips for 2 x 512MB
2. Replace HDD with 120GB or higher 5400RPM
3. I have heard of changing the amount of RAM the video card uses if it uses shared RAM if so Id consider upping mine with the memory upgrade to 128MB so if you know about this let me in on the info
I want to basicly replace my desktop as it is old and dying I will later get a new desktop but Id like to upgrade the laptop to take over for a time the upgrades price out at around $300 which is low enough for me
I would also like to hear thoughts on Western Digital vs Seagate vs Hitachi
Nice, are you going to use it mainly on batteries or on AC?
Probably a lot of both. I use will probably use it a lot in the field but also plenty at home to do paperwork and the like.

Most of the boxes, well boxes 2 thru 6 have makeshift heavy cardboard boxes built around then with filtered air intakes and all exhaust routed into the crawlspace under the house via metal dryer hose (except in winter) and most motherboard fans are controlld by speedfan where applicable and a custom fan controller powered by a 12v ham radio powersupply one of my flight sim buds built for me controls the rest.
I built my PC back in march and use it for everything from downloading to Gaming.
