Consumer Reports wants everyone to use web browsers other than Apple’s Safari until it provides a better anti-phishing feature.
“Mac users fall prey to phishing scams at about the same rate as Windows users, yet far fewer of them protect themselves with an anti-phishing toolbar. To make matters worse, the browser of choice for most Mac users, Appleās Safari, has no phishing protection. We think it should,” the company said.
The other choices for surfing the web if a user is using a Mac are Firefox 3.0 and Opera 9.5. Both include an anti-phishing technology.
Consumer Reports is one of the first organizations who advises users to not use Safari.

Although I have never personally had any issues with safari I still like firefox. Mainly because to the add-ons and extensions. Not because of any notions of security. Most phishing scams involve tricking the end user so its more a factor of social engineering than any actual security hole I think.
Most of the time people that fall for phishing scams seem to be the same people who click on pop ups and open email attachments from people they don’t know.
