The Register has posted an article about a US official of what he did to his computers. According to the article, he hired an outside firm to delete the data in his computers because they were infected by a virus.

Federal investigators requested that Scott J. Bloch, the US official, to turn over copies of his personal files that he saved in an online account before he made his order. Bloch did not want to do this since it contains information such as messages to his personal attorney and pictures from his son in Iraq.
