Microsoft had agreed with PC makers that there will be a change in the BIOS level for Vista computers.

The change will make large-scale attacks, which are automated, to be more difficult for an attacker to accomplish.

Michael Howard, who is the security program manager in Microsoft, noted that all major OEM companies agreed to enable DEP which stands for Data Execution Prevention by default.

He also mentioned that there is progress on Adobe Acrobat/Reader and Flash plug-ins to work correctly with DEP.
