A patch has been released for both Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. They both have a version number of 8.1.1.

“Critical vulnerabilities have been identified in Adobe Reader and Acrobat that could allow an attacker who successfully exploits these vulnerabilities to take control of the affected system. A malicious file must be loaded in Adobe Reader or Acrobat by the end user for an attacker to exploit these vulnerabilities,” according to Adobe’s post in a bulletin.

However, only those who use Microsoft Corp.’s Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7 are the ones who need to get the latest version of those Adobe products.
