Vista’s Slow Copying/Deleting Function Continues

The Register has posted another article about the slow function in Vista when it is trying to copy or delete data from one location to another.

Adrian Procter, one of the readers of The Register, writes, “I have been experiencing slow copying ever since I ‘upgraded’ to Vista earlier this year, particularly from USB keys & drives.” He tried to create a CD with 168 MB of pictures but the operating system told him that it would take 131 years for the process to complete. He also sent in a screen shot and users can check it out by visiting the source link below.

Some people report that the first service pack speeds up the process.

A Pennsylvania man was caught possessing child pornography by a Circuit City computer technician. The technician called the police who seized the computer and arrested the man when he returned to pick it up. Kaspersky Lab Major Error

A signature update was released yesterday by Kaspersky Lab. The problem is that it misdiagnoses Windows Explorer as a file with a virus.

Many people were affected and some of them had set their anti-virus software to auto-delete infected files so that one of the core Windows component was deleted which is explorer.exe.

One person reported, “A false positive caused the deletion of explorer.exe. It would have only caused problems for companies performing their network scan during the hours that the dodgy update was present - which included me, unfortunately. I was working out of hours to fix the previous Kaspersky update problem. I finally finished sorting it all at 5am.”
