New Update About Windows Virtualization On Macs

Parellels has released a new update on their software that lets users use the Windows operating system and applications for it to run on Mac computers.

The update, dubbed “Coherence,” lets a Mac user run a Windows application without a Windows desktop environment (i.e. no windows interface such as the start menu is required to show up before running the application).

The program can be docked too. Other features in the update include drag-and-drop file transfer between the two operating systems’ virtual machines, an update to Transporter to program, and a USB 2.0 support.

Dell Computers

An article has been released by mobilitytoday.com that some custom-built Dell computers are not compatible with Windows Vista.

The main reason why the customized computers are not compatible is about the drivers of the peripherals.

The XPS M1710 notebook computer and the XPS 710 desktop computer are two of Dell’s high-end systems and both are also not compatible with Vista.

Approximately 80% of the drivers from various peripherals are already updated to be compatible with Vista. Those that are not yet compatible will be updated within six months.

More News on Windows Virtualization

The Associated Press has released a news article about Microsoft restricting virtualization on their Windows operating systems.

The main issue is that Parallels, a company that sells virtualization products, has a software that can run Windows XP and Windows Vista in the same computer at the same time. The catch here is that users cannot buy just the Home Basic nor Home Premium versions of Vista, but they have to buy the Business version, which is $100 more expensive than Home Basic, or the Ultimate version which costs twice as much as the Home Basic version.

Run Windows And OS X At The Same Time

A new software has been released by Parallels which lets a Mac computer run an emulated version of a Microsoft Windows operating system.

The software is capable of running the new Windows Vista and it can also run old Windows versions including version 3.1 which was released over ten years ago.

Although a user can run a Windows environment on a Mac computer, the opposite could be possible but it will be an unlikely event because Apple wants their operating system to run exclusively on their Mac computers.
